Dancity porta il suo format “Synthonia” tra le mura dell’Anfiteatro Romani Baravai di Terni con due live imperdibili: quello dell’acclamato James Holden, fresco di uscita con l’ultimo album “Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities”, e quello dell’artista indiana Arushi Jain, modular synthesist, cantante e producer la cui musica nasce dall’incontro dei classici Raga indostani con l’estetica contemporanea. A completare l’evento i resident Dancity e un’incantevole venue con spazio food, bar, area relax.
Dancity brings its “Synthonia” format to the walls of Terni’s Roman Baravai Amphitheatre with two unmissable live performances: that of the acclaimed James Holden, fresh from the release of his latest album “Imagine This Is A High Dimensional Space Of All Possibilities”, and that of Indian artist Arushi Jain, modular synthesist, singer and producer whose music stems from the encounter of classic Hindustani Raga with contemporary aesthetics. The event will be completed by the Dancity residents and an enchanting venue with food, bar and relaxation area.

JAMES HOLDEN
Artista di musica elettronica di fama interanzionale, James Holden nel corso della sua ventennale carriera musicale ha indossato diverse vesti: produttore, remixer, DJ, boss di un’etichetta discografica, maestro del sintetizzatore, leader di una band, ingegnere di mixaggio, sviluppatore di software e un po’ tutti i mestieri vagamente musicali. Tracciando un percorso disordinato a metà strada tra il dilettante spudorato e il polimatico virtuoso, Holden è un artista che sembra trovare difficile stabilirsi, non appena si trova momentaneamente allineato con un ambiente musicale (trance, progressive house, minimal techno, IDM, synth, jazz…) prima che le sue ultime esplorazioni lo portino verso nuovi pascoli.
James Holden is an electronic musician and tinkerer who has worn many hats across his twenty year musical career: producer, remixer, DJ, record label boss, synth maestro, band leader, mix engineer, software developer and all round jack of all vaguely musical trades. Charting a haphazard course somewhere between unashamed dilettante and virtuosic polymath, Holden is an artist who seems to find it difficult to settle, no sooner finding himself momentarily aligned with one musical milieu (trance, progressive house, minimal techno, IDM, synth, jazz…) before his latest set of explorations lead him on to pastures new.
ARUSHI JAIN
Arushi Jain è una sintetista modulare, cantante, produttrice, conduttrice radiofonica e ingegnere con una visione eterodossa di una tradizione secolare, elettronica e decisamente DIY. Le sue composizioni si ispirano ai ragas classici indostani, esplorati in un’estetica contemporanea e attuale. Cresciuta a Delhi, si è poi trasferita in California per studiare informatica all’Università di Stanford, dove è stata introdotta ai suoni generati dal computer e alla sintesi presso il Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). Il suo ultimo album Under the Lilac Sky è stato pubblicato da Leaving Records nel luglio 2021 ed è stato nominato dal Guardian “Global Album of the month”. Il suo lavoro è stato acclamato da Pitchfork, Bandcamp, Boiler Room, Ableton, Resident Advisor, FACT, Crack, DJMag e altri. È la fondatrice di GHUNGHRU, una serie radiofonica e un’etichetta discografica, e recentemente è stata ospite di NTS Radio e boxout.fm. È conosciuta con il suo moniker online @modularprincess.
Arushi Jain is a modular synthesist, singer, producer, radio host and engineer with a heterodox vision of a centuries-old, electronic and decidedly DIY tradition. Her compositions are inspired by Hindustani classical ragas, explored in a contemporary and current aesthetic. Raised in Delhi, she later moved to California to study computer science at Stanford University, where she was introduced to computer-generated sounds and synthesis at the Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). Her latest album Under the Lilac Sky was released by Leaving Records in July 2021 and was named ‘Global Album of the month’ by the Guardian. Her work has been acclaimed by Pitchfork, Bandcamp, Boiler Room, Ableton, Resident Advisor, FACT, Crack, DJMag and others. She is the founder of GHUNGHRU, a radio series and record label, and was recently a guest on NTS Radio and boxout.fm. She is known by her online moniker @modularprincess.
